Prepare to be amazed as your guide takes you on an unforgettable tour of our universe!
See the Universe recreated in front of your eyes from the comfort of your reclining seat inside the Planetarium theatre, day or night, rain or shine. Incredible digital projections of stars and planets come to life on the giant domed screen above you with beautiful clarity.
Our Planetarium shows run every night of the week except Mondays, and change regularly so there’s always something new to see. Choose from a huge range of topics including the Night Sky, Astronauts, Black Holes and much more.
Evening shows all include courtyard telescope viewing (weather permitting).
Please note the following conditions of entry:
Bookings are essential to secure your seat. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for shows as late entry into the planetarium is not possible once the show has started. Seating is general admission. Young children must be accompanied by an adult in the Planetarium. Planetarium shows are not suitable for Children 3 years and under. Children 3 years and under are not permitted in the 8pm and 9pm shows. On Tuesday evenings our premises are an 18+ restricted area due to the terms of our liquor licence. Shows are subject to change at any time.
We provide telescopes for public viewing outside Stardome every night subject to suitable sky conditions, and except Monday evenings when Stardome is closed. Telescopes are complimentary after the 7pm, 8pm & 9pm shows over Winter and after the 8pm & 9pm shows over Summer. Courtyard telescopes are operated by experienced staff who can show you beautiful stars, planets, star clusters and nebulae.
The large Zeiss telescope in the beautiful copper observatory dome is also open for public presentations every Thursday, Friday and Saturday after the 8pm show, subject to suitable sky conditions. Presentations are available for individuals and groups up to 15 people and we recommend advance booking. On a clear night you can expect to see four or five deep-space objects, accompanied by an engaging commentary from one of our team of presenters. The atmosphere in the Zeiss telescope is magical and offers an unforgettable experience for adults and children ages 8 and over. The Zeiss experience costs an additional $8 per person.
Space Gallery & Exhibits
Stardome’s recently installed space gallery & exhibits are an engaging experience to browse either on their own or before/after your planetarium show.
We welcome planetarium session bookings from all groups, including seniors, office social clubs, tour groups, scouts, girl guides, and other clubs for young and old alike. We can tailor a presentation for your group or you can choose from our wide range of shows on offer.
